Accommodation owners and managers
Access in safari accommodation is evolving rapidly meaning information is quickly out of date. You can contribute to this site and future editions of the book, making trip planning easier for everyone.
Share your knowledge!
When in Africa, note access in your lodgings and public buildings. Take photos of these features and send in all your information. If you wish, ask for simple guidelines before you leave home.
Ask for more advice!
If you plan to go on safari - or indeed, on any journey - please feel free to get in touch on the address below for more advice.
As you can see, this is a rapidly growing market. It not only includes people with disabilities and those with temporary injuries, but also many older travellers. They are searching for new boundaries beyond traditional holidays and often have more time and financial means than 'mainstream' tourists.
This is your chance to cater to this market!
Check to see if your camp, lodge or hotel is already listed. If so, are the images representative of your facilities? If not, do send more.
Develop your property!
Every improvement counts. Are you unsure how to make your property more inclusive? Email the address below for advice or simple guidelines tailored to Africa.
Note: The images used are purely functional, showing access through safari accommodation from the entrance to the bathroom facilities, usually focussing on the most accessible tent, chalet or room. If preferred, personal identities will be removed. The intention is neither to endorse nor to discredit any particular property. It is hoped that this information can be used by everyone in the travel industry - including travellers, agents, operators and proprietors - to make Africa more inclusive for all.Photography & text credits
